Southeast Michigan Events Canceled for COVID-19

Earlier this week, two cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were confirmed in Oakland and Wayne county.

As a precaution, to prevent the spread of what the World Health Organization has declared a worldwide pandemic, many local events have decided to take the year off or reschedule at a later time.

To help those still planning to venture out this weekend, we’ve compiled a running list of events that have been canceled or postponed – along with Michigan schools and local venues that have been affected. Take a look before you head out and check back often as we’ll be updating as we learn of new closures.  

Canceled

These local events have been canceled in 2020

Postponed

These local events have been put on hold. Watch out for them to be rescheduled.

  • Greater Farmington Film Fest in Farmington
  • Newsies at the Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center in Trenton
  • Little Big Town at the Fox Theatre has been moved to Oct. 1
  • Ann Arbor Monroe Street Fair

Affected Venues

These local venues are either closed or cancelling programming.

  • Detroit Institute of Arts programming canceled through April 13
  • Edsel & Eleanor Ford House closed until further notice
  • Greenfield Village closed through March 18
  • Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation closed through March 18
  • Ann Arbor District Library programming canceled
  • Lorenzo Cultural Center events through April 12
  • Macomb Center for the Performing Arts events through April 12
  • Oakland University’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance performances canceled
  • Beacon Park’s March events canceled

Affected Schools

These local schools and universities have either closed or adopted online instruction.
