Nine of Eater Detroit’s essential restaurants in Ann Arbor are serving customers right now

Restaurants throughout the state have suspended dine-in service in observance of Michigan’s statewide stay-home order to try to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. That leaves most restaurants with only two options: shift to takeout and delivery, or close. Some that are still open have also introduced heat-at-home items, or even grocery store staples to help people avoid crowded markets.

While there are tools for finding the most up-to-date information on what’s open right now, this guide highlights some of Ann Arbor’s most notable restaurants that are still operational. Remember to tip generously. And please — for the safety of staff, delivery workers, and other customers — respect social distancing measures by maintaining a distance of at least six feet from other people, avoiding large groups, washing your hands regularly, and staying home when sick.

There’s one restaurant not listed here that deserves special mention for any restaurant workers out there: speakeasy-inspired bar the Last Word has closed to the public, but its staff has been providing free healthy meals to recently unemployed service industry individuals.

Eater Detroit has done its best to confirm the status of these restaurants, but the situation is changing daily, so make sure to check websites and social media for the latest information.
