Date night just doesn’t feel the same when you’re having take-out on the couch week after week. Sure, the time with your sweetie is nice and all but don’t you wish you could go out and see a movie again?
While movie theaters aren’t open in Michigan just yet, you can still get a pretty cool retro movie-going experience at a drive-in.
There are some pretty cool drive-in experiences in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor for the whole family — or just you and your bae, if you need a little time away from the kids.

Canterbury Village Drive-In

Canterbury Village and Emagine Theatres have teamed up to put flicks on the big-screen each weekend. Choose from adult flicks like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, kid movies like Kung Fu Panda or options like Jurassic World 2 the whole family will enjoy.
Ford Drive-In
- Address: 10400 Ford Road, Dearborn
- Cost: $11.75/adult, $4.75/kids under 12, free/kids under 5
This Dearborn spot is back in business at half capacity and is offering adult flicks like The Hunt and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. Kid options, including Trolls World Tour and Sonic the Hedgehog, are available, too.
Macomb County Drive-In Movies
- Address: 1400 Lakeside Circle, Sterling Heights
- Cost: $20/car

Summer Drive-In at USA Hockey Arena
- Address: USA Hockey Arena, 14900 Beck Road, Plymouth
- Cost: $10/adults, $8/kids
Find flicks such as Onward (rated PG), The Invisible Man (rated R) and more each night. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and tickets must be purchased online. Capacity is limited to 50% at each screen.
