Sabbath Coffee Roasters features a walk-up window

A new cafe is making its official debut in Clawson on Saturday, October 31. Sabbath Coffee Roasters will open its doors at 24 E. 14 Mile across from White Wolf Patisserie in an 800-square-foot space outfitted with a walk-up window, the hottest design feature of the pandemic.

Partners Trevor and Miranda Graham are behind the new coffee bar. The couple have been roasting coffee beans together for several years. At Sabbath, customers can expect typical third-wave coffee drinks as well as options like espresso and tonic, frozen lattes, frozen cider, and the Draper (espresso, with brown sugar syrup, orange bitters, and cherry garnish). The shop’s beans are roasted using a Dätgen coffee roaster from Turkey; Sabbath plans to offer them by the bag and wholesale to other restaurants and cafes. The menu also features pastries from Cannelle by Matt Knio.

The cafe is also the first project from Tech & Mortar Hospitality Group, a new company operated by Dennis Weiss, Jeff Bianca, and Brian Piper. The group is already planning another project in Clawson on the same block, Weiss Distilling Co., a tasting room that’s been in the works for several years. It’s currently scheduled to opening next spring. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission lists the distillery license as being in the final stages of review.

Beginning on Saturday, Sabbath will open daily with service both inside and at the walk-up window.

Sabbath Coffee Roasters is located at 24 E. 14 Mile; open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday; website.
