The Ultimate At-Home Father’s Day

2020 isn’t quite what we expected. From murder hornets to global pandemics and FBI data on UFOs, kids this year have seen it all — and boy, are they lucky to have a dad (or dad figure) to help see them through it.

Things are finally starting to reopen in metro Detroit and Ann Arbor but it’s still going to be a bit crazy this Father’s Day so it might be a good idea to celebrate dad from the comfort of your home.

Need some planning tips to make the ultimate at-home Father’s Day happen? We’ve got you covered with recipes, gift ideas, fishing spots and much more.

The Gifts

Dads can be pretty tricky to shop for. Of course, you want to get Pops something special but a new tie year after year can get, well, boring.

If you’re looking to get your dad something that tops years past, consider one of the ideas in our roundup of Father’s Day gift ideas — bacon bonbons anyone?

Not feeling store-bought this year? A handcrafted gift that comes from the heart is another option and we’ve got roundups to help get your creative juices flowing. Check them out…

If your dad is known for telling corny jokes, you can also enter him in our Ultimate Dad Joke Contest for a chance to win him a Gourmet Grilled Cheese Box.

The Meal

Most restaurants will likely already be open when Father’s Day rolls around but we bet it’ll be crazy trying to get a seat for a while.

If you want to brave the crowds, we suggest taking dad to a kid-friendly bar or local brewery where he can sample some of the delicious beers our state is known for.

Want to avoid the crowds? You can’t go wrong with grilled chicken or sliders on dad’s big day.

The Outings

Unfortunately, COVID-19 squashed many of the annual Father’s Day events this year but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat dad to a fun day — that is unless he wants to spend his day on the couch. Outdoorsy dads might like a trip to a local fishing spot and more relaxed dads? They might like a golf outing.
